Highlights of Scandinavia and Baltic

Northern Europe and the Baltics may not seem an obvious destination for cruise aficionados. However the region boasts spectacular scenery, fascinating history and a diverse range of cultures, food and languages.

A few of the highlights of cruising Scandinavia and the Baltics

  • Cosmopolitan Copenhagen is one of Scandinavia's sparkling jewels. The city's bustling port is one of the busiest in the Baltic basin, yet it's located barely 10 minutes from downtown. Explore Copenhagen's fairytale cityscape on a canal cruise or take a stroll down Langlinie along the picturesque harbour shoreline. Don't forget to check out the Little Mermaid statue which takes pride of place in the harbour, a tribute to the city's favourite author Hans Christian Andersen.
  • Sweden's capital Stockholm is a unique cruise destination. With two main cruise ship ports at Stadsgården and twin docks at Frihamnen and Värtahamnen, as well as an exclusive inner-city quay at Skeppsbron, there's no excuse to avoid exploring Stockholm's atmospheric streets. The city's historic Old Town is a mix of sparkling canals and picturesque islands connected by over 50 bridges. Be sure to check out the impressive Royal Palace, which backs onto the Skeppsbron.
  • One of Russia's most visited destinations, historic Saint Petersburg is a major stop on many Baltic cruises. Visit the world-famous Hermitage Museum and the spectacular Church of the Saviour, built on the site where Tsar Alexandar II was assassinated in 1881. Like many port cities Saint Petersburg is also renowned for its canals, so hop on near the Nevsky Prospect crossing and take a scenic trip down the Fontanka, lined with the palatial former homes of the Russian nobility.

Cruises generally commence in late Spring (April/May) and the season ends in September.
