Colonial capital
The starting point for many tours in Namibia is the formally German ruled capital Windhoek. This city features an interesting colonial history, which can be discovered on a guided tour to the city's main attractions. This includes The Equestrian Monument, Christ Church, National Botanical and the Clock Tower and Alte Feste Gardens.
To get closer to nature, a short trip from the city will have you exploring the Daan Viljoen Game Park. Located in the Khomas Hochland Mountains, this game reserve is home to an abundant display of birds and game including Impala, Zebra and Wildebeest. You may want to consider a safari through these park to get a taste of Namibia's natural beauty.
Delve deeper
Taking a Namibia tour is a really great way to get deeper into the countryside. Though the countryside may look lifeless, Namibia's baron plains and dry deserts are buzzing with activity. Safaris are readily available through the Etosha National Park where you can view many of the 114 species of mamall and 340 species of bird.
More extensive tours of Namibia take in such destinations as Kaokoland – home to the semi-nomadic Himba people. More of the country's highlights include the red dunes rising to over 300 metres at Sossusvlei, coastal towns of Swakopmund and Walvis Bay, and the Waterberg Plateau Park with its surrounding game farms.
