A great destination for a fun family getaway
As essentially a theme park and resort city for family holidays, a holiday in Orlando can feature a number of things. The Kennedy Space Centre is about an hour east of Orlando city and a must-see for anyone fascinated by space exploration. At the centre you can meet astronauts, explore the history of space flight and walk amongst the rockets that first launched man into space. Time your visit correctly and you can even view the launching of a real NASA rocket. If a trip into the great outdoors is more your thing (and you're up for an early start) the upper limits of the Everglades National Park can be reached comfortably in a day trip from Orlando.

Despite the array of activities in the region, most people go to Orlando to visit Walt Disney World. Quipped as being the 'happiest place on earth,' Walt Disney World consists of 4 theme parks where you'll experience exhilarating – and sometimes terrifying – rides, meet your favourite movie characters and take in spectacular fireworks display over the Cinderella Castle in the evening. And that's just enough for one day. Typically speaking, for a holiday in Orlando, you'll want at least 2 to 4 days to spend at Walt Disney World. While it may be the happiest place on earth, it's also one of the biggest and busiest.
