London for culture, shopping and royalty spotting
Touted as an expensive city, you can do a lot here on the cheap. Make the most of free visits to the British Museum, the National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
Marvel at Westminster Abbey. Escape to Hampstead Heath or Greenwich Park if the crowds get too much. Walk along the banks of the River Thames and take in the architectural landmarks of postcards and history.
For the shopaholics, Harrods and Fortnum & Mason are synonymous with established finery. A handful of well-known markets are at Spitalfields, Camden, Greenwich, Portobello Road, Brick Lane and Borough.
Eateries span the gamut of Michelin-star restaurants, traditional English pubs, 'greasy spoons', and street food stalls. It's a gastronomic kaleidoscope.
Remember you're not a 'real' visitor until you've caught the Tube the wrong way at least once. Grab an Oyster card for travel on public transport if you're going to be in town for more than a few days. What can a holiday in London offer you? Anything you want. Come and have one.
