A centre of business, culture, sport and tourism

Scotland’s largest city and centre of business, culture, sport and tourism, a Glasgow holiday will reveal a vibrant city full of surprises and delights. With rapid growth in the 19th century from industry and shipping, much of the historic Glasgow that we see today was built from the industrial wealth during its Victorian heyday. The past several decades have seen extensive renovation and beautification efforts throughout the city and while the city’s historic architecture has been saved and preserved, modern redevelopment initiatives have also taken place incorporating contemporary design features to create a unique and attractive urban landscape.

Glasgow’s beauty is evident when walking through George Square, the city’s main public plaza. George Square is bordered by some of the most beautiful and historic structures in the city including the massive neoclassical Glasgow City Chambers. Built in the 1880s, this impressive building is the stand out feature of a square filled with great statues dating as far back as 1832.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is one of the city’s most popular attractions housing one of the most noted art collections in Europe. The magnificent building is in itself a work of art and the stunning features and ornamental design both inside and out make it another stand architectural masterpiece. Adjacent to the museum is Kelvingrove Park which features lovely riverbank settings and quiet wooded areas where city residents can be found enjoying the tranquil green space.
