Queenstown as a Gay Destination
During the summer months, stunning Queenstown located on the banks of Lake Wakatipu, is New Zealand's adrenaline central – nearby is the world's first permanent commercial bungy site was established by A J Hackett off the Kawarau Bridge in 1988. This is your chance to hit the slopes during the day and enjoy the plethora of activities arranged especially during the week as après ski entertainment.

Events
Gay Ski Week
Held during the last week in August, Gay Ski Week is a major event on the New Zealand calendar and the international queer calendar. The week kicks off on the Saturday night with an opening party. This is your chance to mingle with other like minded enthusiasts before hitting the slopes the following morning. The organising committee arranges special events for every night during the festival – including for example a Rocky Horror themed night, karaoke and a wine tasting evening. The week concludes with a Dance Party on the final Saturday night – so that you can say your final farewells to all your new friends before you catch up the following year in Queenstown.
