For a feel of over 40,000 years' worth of history, an Alice Springs holiday should include time spent in the Araluen Cultural Precinct to view the art and culture of the local Aboriginal people. Heritage sites from early settlers in the region are also dotted around town including the Old Telegraph Station Reserve. Grab your hiking shoes or hop on a hot air balloon to explore the nearby MacDonnell Ranges to view striking chasms, craters, swimming holes and sacred Aboriginal sites, or head to the fringe of the Simpson Desert to encounter rare wildflowers and flora and the unique indigenous wildlife that make their home in the arid red sand. The changing sandstone hues of the Rainbow Valley cliffs are a spectacular sight to behold and capture on film.
