Malta International Airport (MLA)
Malta’s airport is located 5 kilometres outside the capital city of Valletta. Air Malta is based at MLA and connections can be made throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The airport features a wide array of shops and restaurants while ATM and currency exchange services are located in the arrivals area. Taxi service into the city is frequent and car rentals are readily available.
This ancient island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea is a majestic mix of culture and history, with a dash of modern European flair. Its ancient footprint is felt across the islands from stone temples thousands of years old to historic fortress walls erected to protect the country from invading crusaders in the 1500s and 1600s. Often referred to as the “Silent City”, Mdina is one of the most historically significant cities in the world. History calls out no matter where you are and all one has to do is venture down the city streets, take in the view of a picturesque harbour or hike the hilly countryside to recognize that Malta is one special place.
