Cairns is the main gateway to Australia's underwater pride and joy, the Great Barrier Reef. One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef in the world and the only living thing visible from space. From Cairns you can do a day tour to the reef involving diving, snorkelling, or simply sitting back and taking in the amazing scenery.
